Poem: I am poetry

Like the distant crow of an early rooster
I am neither loud nor a whisper;
like the voice of cascading waterfalls
that quiet hearts, gently refreshes;
I am the music of silence,
I am the voice of enchantment.

I am the irony of light
casting shadows by its brightness.
I am the lustre of precious virgin ores,
the color of glassy coastal horizons;
the prismatic superimposition
of nature’s multi-colorlessness.

In the spotlight I am beautiful
Behind the drop curtain I am romance.
I am the magical spell of illusion;
I can titillate your mind’s retina
with visions of fantastical imagery
and make all your senses full of light.

I have a thousand names
but you’ll only know the one you give me
I speak in all languages
and may have just as many meanings
I want to own you for this minute
then I can be yours for a life time.

Like a guide, I’ll lead memories by the hand
I’ll trail your finest fantasies
I’d give you sweetness or tearfulness
I’d give you wisdom or curiosity
I am the proverbial fairy with a magic wand
I am the voice in your head… I am poetry.
