Poem: Wedding Day

Life, God has made rich in wonders -
We haven’t seen them all.
Yet it’ll never give us enough satisfaction
If we only always look for more.
We often think that great blessings
Only lie in painful paths
So we despise the simple chance for love, joy and fulfillment
That God bestows in our laps.

It seems my beloved, you landed right in my lap
God really meant to spare me I see
Lest I envied to the grave if one had married you but me
May only death in ripe old age part us now
From today my beloved is married to me!

Arm in Arm, we locked our destinies
And took to the aisle
We sang, danced and let joy take our breath away.
Well wishers cheered and joined the train
As we marched to the altar, said our vows
And loved ones said amen.
Of recent sleepless nights and day dreams
This it was all about -
Well it’s no more a movie playing in my head
Today I really get to take my wife home!

Indeed, you are the reality of my many dreams
And I’ll give none of this to chance
You’ve been a good sister, friend and lover
Now the Lord has even more plans …
Come now and be the power of my loins -
The spring in my every stride
Be my lucky star each morning
Be the better part of me.

Till death in ripe old age do us part,
I belong to my beloved
And my beloved is mine!
