Poem: My Comforter
Self is frail; alone, the way is grim
who best can support me?
Journeying thru this world a pilgrim
No help like Jesus can ever be!
When I bow my knees in prayer
He bows from heaven to hear my plea;
in every desperation hour
The rock of ages shelters me.
Fallible is human might and manly power
up in the never failing rock I rest,
If friends betray me and trust turns sour
His unfailing love will yet abide
When temptations around me form a threatening maze
He’s my strength: He delivers me
When boasting terrors rise my soul to daze,
He best comforts and fights for me.
As the evening shadows grow bolder
Father lead me by the hand
And when earth is swallowed up in darkness
Bring me safely to thy land.

Praise God! : ) I’m looking forward to reading more of your work. May the Lord continue to use your poetry for His glory, brother. When I read the second stanza, I had to take a deep breath and appreciate the rhythm and the truth.
